Celebrating 600 Years of History. In 2018 Teguise & La Graciosa are going Medieval!!

Carnival 2018..

Each municipal in Lanzarote has it’s own theme for their own Mardi Gras event. ‘The Medieval Era’ is the theme for us. The official poster reflects details of the municipality, like the tower of the Teguise church and the symbol of the museum of piracy. In addition, the poster points out the 600 years of Teguise history too. Furthermore, take a look at the blue cape, for a historic nod to public events which the municipal corporation are currently presenting each month.

Celebrations will begin in Teguise on Friday March 2nd, with the traditional carnival of ‘La villa’.  The main event will take place the same weekend in Costa Teguise. Celebrations for the municipal will end with La Graciosa Carnival on the weekend of March 10th 2018.

Teguise Market Sunday..

Teguise is the original flagship market town of Lanzarote. Unlike our modern coastal neighbours (Costa Teguise). Teguise Village, locally known as ‘La Villa’, is steeped in history.

The local people of Lanzarote lay claim to Teguise being the oldest Spanish settlement in the whole of the Canaries. The history of the area dates back to 1402. Furthermore, this was the original capital of the island. The town also has a unique charm with many of its buildings dating back to the 17th century. This creates the perfect backdrop for a Sunday market, full to the brim with rustic chic style!

Cantina Teguise Sunday Session..

At Cantina Teguise we pride ourselves on offering a unique twist to any Sunday market visit. The reason is a secret, but not the kind of secret you might expect.

We’re open with our rustic international cuisine 7 days of every week, but on a Sunday we add a new level to cantina. The Secret Garden comes to life at the back of our building. Within those open air walls we offer live music courtesy of the brilliant EMMIEL and a touch of magic with a local illusionist. Why not? Enjoy our Daytime Food Menu. Local wine. Artisan Beer. Homemade Lemonade and full drinks list. Available all day.

Cantina Teguise is open for food and drinks during the evening too. (Main menu begins from 5pm).
